AirTran Challenges

In order to maximize revenue by analyzing forecasting, booking, and ticketing data, AirTran needed a database solution that was capable of querying large amounts of data while maintaining high availability.

Greenplum Solution

Greenplum Database was the ideal solution, the MPP architecture and robust reliability enabled AirTran to analyze very large data sets reliably. In addition, Greenplum’s high speed loading (>4.5TB/hr) made it easy to incorporate multiple data feeds from disparate systems throughout the enterprise, on a nightly and hourly basis. The net result allowed AirTran to analyze the data they needed at the speed in which they needed it, in order to make the appropriate operation decisions.
