Greenplum Announces Data Warehouse Architecture Video Series
“Briefing on the Petabyte Future” teaches fundamentals of massively parallel database architecture and introduces the visionary engineers behind the project
San Mateo, California (PRWeb) November 3, 2008 – Greenplum, a leading provider of database software for the next generation of data warehousing and analytics, today launched a new data warehouse architecture video designed to introduce enterprise customers to the trends that underpin concepts behind the Greenplum Database.
The video, entitled “Briefing on a Petabyte Future,” delivers a conceptual overview of Greenplum’s approach to delivering high-performance, scalable data analysis and management. In this “glass board” video, CTO Luke Lonergan and four key engineers at Greenplum contrast past database architectures against new data processing paradigms that exist today as a result of the increased capabilities of server and processor technology and innovative analytics frameworks like MapReduce. The video discusses how enterprises with varying infrastructures can benefit from massively parallel processing to conduct large-scale data analysis and manage rapid data growth.
"The ‘Briefing on a Petabyte Future’ video is a quick way for enterprises to learn about Greenplum technology. It outlines key issues related to the Greenplum architecture, the MPP environment, data warehousing fundamentals, PostgreSQL and Unix, and helps bring database administrators, system administrators and developers up-to-speed as they consider large-scale analytics projects in their companies," said Luke Lonergan, CTO at Greenplum.
“Briefing on the Petabyte Future” is available in the Greenplum Video Library along with other videos which include MapReduce Demos, visionary views, and customer testimonials.
Greenplum also announced upcoming dates for the Greenplum Database Training Course, as part of the company’s commitment to evangelizing the new database paradigm in the face of exploding data. This five-day training course will prepare students to administer and maintain a Greenplum database system. The course includes Greenplum Fundamentals, Greenplum Advanced SQL and Tuning, and Greenplum Administration.
• November 3-7, 2008 – San Mateo, CA
• December 8-12, 2008 – New York, NY
